IMPORTANT NOTES

1 - this mod has been designed, developed and tested on a system which meets the minimum system
requirements for the original game, and was done so on an original unpatched release (V1.00) of GTA San
Andreas for the PC (which was eventually re-rated 'M' for mature in North America).

2 - if you have purchased the game at a later date and/or missed that original release, the chances are
that you have V2.00 or V3.00 - unfortunately, Rockstar all but disabled much support for mods in these
later versions. All is not lost however, as installing the mod will also automatically 'downgrade' your
game version to V1.00 so that it can run mods properly (see note below). This also means that if you
have patched the game to V1.10 then the game will revert to it's pre-patched status.

3 - the mod will probably cause issues or not work if other mods are used in conjunction with it - it has
been designed as a 'standalone' mod and is not intended to be used alongside any others. Only install the
mod on top of a FULL, clean, fresh install of GTA San Andreas.

4 - because so many of the games' core files and data has been changed by the mod, existing save games and
settings will not work and/or may cause crashes. If this is the case for you, make a backup of the
contents of your 'GTA San Andreas User Files' folder before installing the mod (so you can restore it
later if you wish) and delete any save games and replays and more importantly the gta_sa.set file from the
original folder.

5 - if you are using Windows Vista, problems running the game may be resolved by running gta_sa.exe in
Windows XP (SP2) compatibility mode and running it as administrator. This is even more important for
running the mod. You may also have to disable DEP (Data Execution Prevention) for the gta_sa.exe file
although that step should not be necessary for most users.

6 - because of some graphical enhancements that have been made, I suggest running the game on these specs
(these are the recommended minimum specs for the game with the mod installed);-
 - Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon XP processor
 - 384MB of RAM
 - 128MB video card with DirectX9.0c (NVIDIA GeForce 6 series or better)
 - 16x DVD-ROM drive
 - DirectX9.0c compatible sound card (Audigy 2 series or better)
 - A FULL install of GTA San Andreas (i.e. all audio and game data installed to your hard disc).

7 - the mod has been written and designed specifically to support English language ONLY. Please understand
that is not because I wish to discriminate in any way, it is simply because I cannot translate into any
other language. For this reason, you cannot change the default English language in the game as doing so
would render a lot of ingame texts un-readable.

NOTE: installation of the mod will also automatically patch the gta_sa.exe main executable file so that it
reverts to being V1.00 in order to allow the game to run the mod properly. The installation wizard will
automatically detect which version you have - V1.00, V1.10 or V2.00 - and patch all of the required
files appropriately. Unfortunately, there is no support for V3.0 yet (the version available via digital
distribution, for example over Steam) so if this is the case for you the installer will probably abort
with an error.

This patching process is required to ensure the mod works correctly as intended as several fixes have
been applied to the main executable file. These are the ONLY changes made, the patching process does NOT
provide any means to circumvent the games' copy protection systems or to cheat.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT - you must have a FULL install of GTA San Andreas to proceed. This includes all of the audio
data as well as the whole of the game itself.

A number of steps are required in order to ensure that the mod is installed correctly. Please ensure that
you follow these steps carefully - failure to install the mod properly can and will result in problems
which can only be remedied by completely removing and reinstalling GTA San Andreas.

Navigate to your 'GTA San Andreas' directory. For the purposes of these instructions, the default
installation path of 'C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\' is assumed. If you chose to install GTA San
Andreas elsewhere then you will have to navigate to the location where the game is installed.

Right-click the 'GTA San Andreas' folder and select 'Copy' then right-click anywhere inside the 'Rockstar
Games' folder and select 'Paste'. This will create a backup copy of GTA San Andreas which can be restored
if things go wrong for you.

Right-click the original 'GTA San Andreas' folder and select 'Properties'. In the 'Attributes' section of
the dialog box that appears, make sure that 'Read-only' is UNCHECKED - you need to write to this directory
to install the mod properly. Click 'Apply' and on the next dialog box select 'Apply changes to this
folder, subfolder and files' and click 'OK'. Click 'OK' to close the first dialog box and you're good to
go.

Navigate to the folder where you extracted these instructions and double-click the Install.exe program.
The program will automatically install the mod over your existing GTA San Andreas installation.

IMPORTANT: THE INSTALLER DOES NOT ACTUALLY PLACE ANY FILES ON YOUR SYSTEM, IT PATCHES ALL OF THE GAME
FILES SO THAT THEY BECOME THE MODIFIED VERSIONS REQUIRED FOR THE MOD TO WORK. THIS PATCHING PROCESS IS
VERY TIME AND PROCESSOR INTENSIVE SO IT MAY APPEAR THAT IT HAS HUNG - DO NOT ABORT! SOME FILES ARE ALMOST
1GB IN SIZE AND PATCHING THEM TAKES A WHILE SO PLEASE BE PATIENT. IF THERE IS A PROBLEM THE INSTALLER
WILL ABORT ITSELF. INTERRUPTING THE PATCHING PROCESS MAY CORRUPT YOUR INSTALLATION BEYOND REPAIR!

Andreas elsewhere then you will have to navigate to the location where the game is installed.

Delete the 'GTA San Andreas' folder where the mod was installed.

IF YOU HAVE NOT MADE A BACKUP OF GTA SAN ANDREAS

Go to http://www.gtamods.de and download the GTASA Recoverer program. Using this will allow you to extract
specific files from the original GTA San Andreas DVD on an individual basis and restore them to the
original GTA San Andreas directory on your hard drive, thus removing the need for uninstalling and
re-installing GTA San Andreas should it become corrupted.
